The making of a special wine from the juice of the Lala Palms. In Southern Africa, palm wine (Ubusulu) is produced in Maputaland, an area in the south of Mozambique between the Lobombo mountains and the Indian Ocean. It is mainly produced from the lala palm (Hyphaene coriacea) by cutting the stem and collecting the sap.

These local bush pubs are great for a local experience, you can have nay of the local beers made in Mozambique and the famous local rum called Tipitento, that is drunk with a raspberry cold drink mix. Most of them play local music and some of them have adapted to playing some South African music.

February THE PEOPLE AND VILLAGE OF ZITUNDO, 10 km from Ponta Mamoli Marula Festivals are held in the Marula fruits' honour throughout southern Mozambique, to celebrate the harvest from the fields in February.
The festival gives people a sense of togetherness and belonging. The Chief uses these occasions to introduce special guests to the local community and to thank donors and investors who have contributed to the area and/or the festivities (contributing with a cow is one of the ways to prevent a hippo being killed for the festivities).

ZITUNDO seats on top of a hill with land sloping down to Lake Sotiva. The lake measures about c. 3 by 2 kilometers and is about c. 25 kilometers from the nearest beach and resort: Ponta Mamoli.
